Political church services.

Well... Today my total hours of church services was six hours.

10:30-11:30-English service at Zion. It went pretty well. The church was filled with joyful people expressing their Easter Holiday Spirits.

11:30-12- Just leaving church, and on my way to Austin, Mn.

12:00- In St.Johns Church waiting for my fellow Sudanese congregational members to arrive at the church.

You see, the thing with these families is that they like to be late. And when I say late I mean the pastor has to tell everyone that church starts at 11:00 even though it really starts at 12:00 just so the majority of the people are here on time. So, after everyone is situated, its time for the service to begin. It starts out running pretty smoothly, until its time for the guest speaker to put in a word. Sounds all good right. Yeah, not really. I'm sitting in the second pew on the left waiting to hear a very intresting and great story from the bible. Its that what I get? No way. I'm looking at this guy ready to speak and what he talks about stuns me. He is talking about politics. He beings with a story about a man from africa and leads into talking about how we need a better governtment in Sudan. He says we need one that does not use violence. Oh dont get me wrong I'm all for that, but this is not the place I want to hear this political nonsence from. He continues to ramble on about how we should vote for so and so in the upcoming political Campaign, and I'm sitting in my wooden pew thinking what does this have to do with god or Easter? It was a very interesting church service as you can tell.

Six years later,

3:00pm- Finally time to go home and relax. Only wait, a suprise we're going to the china buffet to eat. Yay! I'm happy. Oh but wait, Another suprise. Martha can't go because her mother is going to be late for work and she has to babysitt. So she's on her way home while everyone is chewing on their chicken teriyaki sticks.

GREAT DAY WASN'T IT?
